About

This extension calculates the pipeline code stress per Chapter VIII "Offshore Gas Transmission" of ASME B31.8 "Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems"

About

PVPCheck is developed to calculate code stress in Element PIPE288/PIPE289/ELBOW290, according to ASME B31.8 Chapter VIII Offshore Gas Transmission.

There are three types of stress as defined in A842.2.2 Design Against Yielding

(a) Hoop Stress.

(b) Longitudinal Stress

(c) Combined Stress

PVPCheck also calculates the stress intensification factor (SIF) at curved section(bend or elbow) and intersection node(tee) as specified in Table E-1 in Mandatory Appendix E Flexibility and Stress Intensification Factors

PVPCheck can feed the result , such as SIF, code stress, allowable stress and stress percentage, to Mechanical for graphical display and text file export.

A standalone result panel is available in PVPCheck to display all the relevant input date and results in spreadsheet format, user can perform basic manipulation, such as find, sort, save csv file, etc.

The step-by-step code stress calculation procedure is available, which will enable user to review and diagnose the cause of the high stress in certain area of pipeline system.

The user can use PVPCheck to add special boundary condition(restraint/constraint) on their piping system, such as pipe support, pipe stop, pipe clamp, etc.

PVPCheck can calculate the buoyancy force on pipe as gravitational force, and take into account of internal fluid density, insulation density/thickness by write APDL commands.

In summary, PVPCheck is a very convenient App in Ansys to enable user to evaluate the code stress of offshore pipeline system as per ASME B31.8 code.
